20 YEARS OF BEYOND RETRO


We are so excited to be celebrating 20 years in the biz!

2022 is a huge year for us as a brand as we celebrate 20 years of being the go-to sustainable option for fashion. In that time we have saved a whopping 7 million pieces from landfill! Imagine all the amazing places those 'fits have been worn, parties they've been to, giving them a new lease of life.

To celebrate, we are hosting a variety of events, pop ups and activities across the summer - keep checking back to see what's on near you!

2nd July : Beyond Retro x Borrowed Light Floral Studio - Pop Up in Dalston

Sarah & Claudia set up Borrowed Light studio in 2018, in the east corner of London. They wanted to do big fun things with flowers, which they do; but along the way they also discovered a love of plants, which now plays an equal part. Their work is inspired by the changing of seasons, the local forest, urban architecture and artwork.


Sustainability is a key aspect of their practice; they favour British & ideally locally
grown flowers. Sharing the same ethos of sustainability, Beyond Retro will be
hosting a Borrowed Light Floral Studio pop up event at the Dalston branch on the
2nd of July.

Pop by to treat yourself to beautiful summer flowers & new plant babies!

On the 7th of July, join us at Beyond Retro Brighton for a 2000s Pop Culture Hyper-Quiz, hosted by DJ and trivia expert, Tony of the Sea!

 
Expect fab prizes, an in-store DJ, complimentary drinks and stellar trivia! Plus, tickets are FREE! Doors open 6:30 pm. Please be aware that the max team size is 6 people.

The last 20 years at a glance!

2002

In June of 2002, a 1940s inspired tattoo anchor gets put up outside an old dairy shed in Cheshire Street, London. Filled with handpicked vintage gems, Beyond Retro is born!

2005

After 3 years of dressing the London scene, a trio living in Stockholm - bring Beyond Retro to Sweden after visiting Cheshire Street and wanting to re-create the sought after culture in Sweden and keeping an incredible community around the brand.

 

2009

Beyond Retro Label, our answer to how to re-use the vintage we don't put in stores is launched crafting original items from reclaimed materials.

Our Swedish store moves to Zinkensdamm where it still operates today!

2014

In a partnership with global children’s charity Save The Children, in support of their Christmas Jumper Day campaign.

Beyond Retro donated £10,500 in total to Save The Children by donating £1 for every Christmas jumper sold.



2016

We start getting some high profile attention - the Duchess of Cambridge herself, Kate Middleton is also seen wearing Beyond Retro in Vogue!

In the same year, Rihanna wears Beyond Retro Denim!

2017

In Sweden, all Beyond Retro Price Tags serve as an Organ Donor Card, giving not only new life to vintage clothing but also encouraging and spreading the information of perfectly functioning organs to save lives.

2019

We drop our first ever collab with Converse - since then we have done 6 different collaborations together, upcycling 62,000 pairs of jeans, 1800 workwear pieces and 7000 tropical shirts - saving them from landfill!

2020

We partner with Renewcell, a global non-profit Textile Exchange organisation.

2021

We open a special vintage pop-up in Selfridges as part of the department store's ongoing Reselfridges Initiative.




2021

We launch Beyond Retro Exchange - our in store programme allowing you to bring in old items for credit in store - making our clothing fully circular.
