Beyond Retro Gets Creative in Dalston for Project Recycle!

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Calling all designers, style princesses and scissor gods! Beyond Retro has a challenge for you! With the recycling ethic we champion still being so in vogue, we are challenging you take things a step further! As you know, old clothes make great new ones! Even more so, when they are cut up with a dash of style magazine chic! Step forward, ‘Supersweet’ magazine and their awe inspiring back catalogue of pop culture pictures! We want you to cut those up and see what  clothes design wonders you can create! Sew those pages with sequins, ribbons or feathers and let your imagination run wild! The best will form a unique display at Beyond Retro’s Cheshire Street store at the end of March.

We ran a workshop in Dalston over the weekend to help get your creative juices flowing! We had fun cutting, sticking and startching our way to fashion fame, but there is still time to get involved! Head over to the Supersweet site for details: http://supersweet.org/Competitions/PROJECT-RECYCLE-FASHION/menu-id-31.html

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Present Power! By now, we hope your Christmas wishes have all come true and at the very least you are prancing around the house in a Beyond Retro original (I know I love to look glam on Christmas Day!), or maybe you found some of our gift vouchers in your Santa sack and we’ll be seeing you soon for a little spree! Hoping you are having a wonderful day, we send you our warmest wishes!

In case you haven’t made it down to our latest East End Lights exhibition, here’s a little piece of Cheshire Street art to keep up your festive spirits! Photograph by Christopher James

On the First Day of Christmas!…

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

We love the WOW factor that goes with our everyday vintage fashion parade! And so it is, that December starts with a style bang!

A macabre forest, deep in the urban East End, is where Christmas wishes start and end! Daredevil styling shakes up the traditional Santa red as we’re transported to a land of carnival colours and splintered cabaret. If stark monochrome, incognito hats and uber-lingerie doesn’t make your pulse race at Christmas, then it’s up to the killer heels. Perfect for anyone who is avoiding the High Street Christmas fairy look!

Disney Winter Princesses at Cheshire Street!

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

All hail princess power! ‘Tis the season of the puffball! But don’t expect Beyond Retro to love a half-assed effort. Instead, we’ll get you to the ball in superstyle! Lavish petticoats and multilayered tulle skirts reference ’80s downtown street glitz, but the Cheshire Street style silhouette resurrects pastel colours and shock ruching!

Corset-style basques worn over chiffons and silks export a colossal mix and mismatch spirit. It’s playtime amidst the Disney inspired colour-clash mayhem! The Beyond Retro princess has a glorious glam trash appeal that simply must be copied if you’re going to grab a half decent prince, come Christmas!

Get in line for some princessly prowess at Beyond Retro! Come to  our dedicated Frock Nights, taking place on these dates:

Beyond Retro, Cheshire Street, London: 3rd December 2009: 6pm – 10pm

Beyond Retro, Vine Street, Brighton: 3rd December 2009: 6pm – 9pm

Beyond Retro, Great Marlborough Street, London: 4th December 2009: 6pm – 9pm
