Beyond Retro Brighton
Brighton has long been a destination for arty types escaping the hustle and bustle of the big smoggy cities. For centuries this seaside town has attracted a plethora of individuals desperate for the sea air. From King George IV to Graham Greene, Fatboy Slim to the mods and rockers, all of these people have sewn the fabric of Brighton’s culture to become the coolest places in the UK.
Beyond Retro opened its doors to the people of Brighton in 2009, on Vine Street, just off the beaten track of the famous North Laines. Nestled in between various vintage gems and independent boutiques, the store suits the welcoming community and vibrant spirit of Brighton.
The building was once home to Brighton’s buses, as it was one of the city’s bus warehouse. Step inside and crank your neck up to see the high glass ceilings and envision these gargantuan vehicles indoors. Vast and bright this beautiful store is now the perfect home to tens of thousands of vintage items. It also serves as a terrific venue for a variety of events and happenings, many of which you’ll spot above your heads on the impressive mezzanine.
Whether you’re visiting for a seaside trip, desperate for the most delicious fish and chips or planning a shopping trip in unique and exciting stores, be sure to pop in and say ahoy.
