Payroll/Bookkeeper - Sweden

The Position:

We are looking for a detail oriented and reliable Payroll / Bookkeeper to support our Swedish retail business on a part time basis (40 percent, 2 days per week).

This role is based in Stockholm and requires on site presence in the office. You will be responsible for the day to day payroll administration and bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance and smooth collaboration with our wider finance team.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate payroll records, supporting bookkeeping activities, and ensuring local compliance with Swedish payroll and accounting requirements.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured work, has strong attention to detail, and values being part of a collaborative, people focused business.

Key Responsibilities: 


Payroll

- Process Swedish payroll accurately and on time, including monthly payroll runs. Proficient with Planday and Hogia softwares

- Ensure correct handling of salaries, overtime, bonuses, sick pay, per diem(traktamente), holiday pay and deductions

- Ensure staff pension contributions are managed correctly, reported on time 

- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including starters, leavers and contract changes

- Ensure compliance with Swedish payroll legislation, tax rules and collective agreements where applicable

- Prepare and submit payroll related reports to relevant authorities

- Act as the first point of contact for payroll related questions from employees in Sweden

Bookkeeping

- Support day to day bookkeeping activities, including posting invoices, expenses and payments

- Having access to the company bank account and tax office account  (skatteverket) 

- Reconcile payroll related accounts and support balance sheet reconciliations

- Assist with bank reconciliations and general ledger entries

- Assist with the management of tax office account 

- Support month end activities related to payroll and bookkeeping

- Maintain accurate documentation and filing in line with internal controls and audit requirements


Collaboration and Controls

- Work closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team to ensure smooth financial operations

- Support the maintenance of internal controls, policies and procedures within the Nordic region

- Assist with ad hoc finance or payroll related tasks as needed

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

- Proven experience working in payroll and bookkeeping, ideally within Sweden

- Strong understanding of Swedish payroll regulations and employment related deductions

- Experience with accounting or payroll systems (NetSuite or similar systems is a plus)

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail

- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a wider finance team

- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage recurring deadlines

- Confident using Microsoft Office and Google Suite, especially Excel or Google Sheets

- Professional communication skills in English, Swedish is a strong advantage
