It's been a tricky ten year's for Polaroid, but today's Vintage Spotlight celebrates the company's heyday, back when it fought off Kodak to become the proprietary eponym for instant cameras and they were cool because they were new, not because they were retro. The Spectra line was released in the early '80s and represented another giant technological leap for Polaroid, for reasons that we'll leave it to this original television advert to explain:
