Vintage Spotlight #58

Posted on August 23 2011

It is always a pleasure to receive one of the great British brands into the warehouse. Today we sent this men's Lyle and Scott Argyle jumper to Beyond Retro | Brighton and found this fantastic '70s women's version online . Lyle and Scott has been a staple item of every Golf enthusiast's wardrobe for over 100 years. Don't like golf? Don't worry, Argyle never goes out of fashion: see the cafe dancing scene in Godard's 'Bande à part' for the ultimate proof that Argyle has been, still is, and will always be cool. Lyle and Scott is also a brand synonymous with Ronnie Corbett and his sitting in a chair routine every Saturday night during 'The Two Ronnies' (ask your mum and dad). For some there is no greater accolade for a garment than being on the shoulders of wee Ronnie. Don't pay four times the price for a similar piece in a high-end department store, walk home clutching the yellow bag with the anchor on it.

Lyle & Scott Argyle Jumper | £26 | Available at our Brighton store
