Beyond Retro is proud to announce the launch of our fabulous new project, East End Lights, from 6pm on Thursday August 28th!
The first East End lights exhibition will feature artwork of Robert Cary-Williams, one of the UKs leading and most challenging fashion designers, who is now turning his talents to art. A bold experimenter and master of deconstruction, Cary-Williams has pioneered several unorthodox techniques in particular his Shotgun t-shirts and firework effects. His move towards art is a natural progression from his work as a designer: his fashion show pieces have been sold to museums around the world including the V&A and MoMA. We are delighted to invite Robert Cary-Williams to launch East End Lights.
Robert Cary-Williams infamous classic 'Shotgun T-shirts along with new artwork posters and prints will be available for sale in the Beyond Retro store and online Restless Gallery for a limited time only.
East End Lights will see an artists work showcased in four large A0 sized light boxes as an installation on the external walls of Beyond Retro. We will change the artwork every two months, providing a platform for artists, photographers and illustrators, and taking art out of the gallery and into the streets of our East London community.
With East End Lights, Beyond Retro aims to cultivate relationships with budding and established artists and designers and to foster an artistic spirit in the area, making it a more interesting place to visit and live.
