Live At Beyond Retro Brick Lane...

Posted on February 08 2012

We are privileged and excited beyond words to be hosting some of the best new bands making music at the moment at our Brick Lane store over the coming weeks. Kicking off with The Jude next Saturday, throughout February and March we'll be opening our doors to Grouplove, We Walk On Ice, M A D C O L O U R S and Fractures. Feast your eyes (and ears) on our full listings below. As always, gigs are free entry and start at 3PM unless otherwise stated. Save the dates in your diary and head down to Brick Lane for some serious shop 'n' roll...

The Jude // 18th February 2012 // 3PM // Free Entry

Skiffling their way to the stage at Beyond Retro Brick Lane on Saturday 18th February are London rock’n'rollers The Jude. The recently-released “Les Filles Francaises” was a brilliant follow-up to debut single “Ha Ha Goodbye”, a track that saw them earn fans in all the right places. Now it’s your turn to join the ever-growing legion of them – check out the super-cute video for the latest single below, then catch them for free at Beyond Retro… http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WWH1ZFCeWco

Grouplove // 27th February 2012 // 6PM // Free Entry

Grouplove, whose ever-growing army of admirers includes Zane Lowe, Nick Grimshaw, Fearne Cotton and Lauren Laverne are set to tour the UK from the middle of the month and will be playing live at our Brick Lane store on the 27th before their sold-out final show at The Garage. Since the release of debut album Never Trust A Happy Song, the LA quintet have not only racked up some serious time on the UK airwaves, but have performed for the David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel shows, as well as featuring in the new Applie iPod Touch advert with previous single Tongue Tied, so this is a rare chance to see the band for free in such an intimate setting. Check out the video for upcoming single Colours and do.not.miss.this.one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ddd70PMxTE

We Walk On Ice // 17th March 2012 // 3PM // Free Entry

We Walk On Ice are a Swedish/Brazillian duo whose ethereal vocals and extravagant drum beats combine with doses of raw surf guitar to create a cinematic sound-scape much bigger than their numbers. A relentlessly hardworking band, their self-released debut single "One Fine Day Part II" is catchy as hell and comes out on March 21st. Check out the accompanying video below which, true to the band's work ethic was produced with only an iPhone and a laptop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G4JnlGno8o

M A D C O L O U R S // 24th March 2012 // 3PM // Free Entry

With ambitions as lofty as challenging conventional understandings of the word "Band", M A D C O L O U R S, aside from writing some of the finest pop songs out there, use music as the focus of their pallet but incorporate video, art and anything creative in between to become an all-encompassing multimedia experience. A truly exciting live act, they play Beyond Retro prior to the release of new single Verda Hugo on 26th March. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=QKzm0Qe0ieo

Fractures // 31st March 2012 // 3PM // Free Entry

In their short life, Fractures' stadium-sized Britpop offerings have already earned them a place on NME's 100 Bands You Have To Hear list for 2012 and if their gig at the Electricity Showrooms last month is anything to go by, these lads will be bigger than the '90s soon enough. Catch them at Brick Lane while their choruses can still actually fit through the door. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=jMmmWCBFPt4
