How To Make Blazers Work For Summer 2019

Posted on July 09 2019

Blazers became a staple piece in all our wardrobes last autumn, and have remained a go-to piece ever since - but as the weather warms up we still just can’t put them down. Finding new ways to wear your favourite pieces for all seasons is a great way to make your wardrobe sustainable, and save yourself a load of money. So don’t push your blazer to the back of your wardrobe just yet, we’ve got 8 ways to make blazers work for summer right here.

8 Ways To Wear Blazers In Summer

1. Paired With Cycling Shorts

If blazers were the essential piece for autumn then cycling shorts are the summer must-have. Not only are these stretchy staples super comfy, they are also lightweight enough to keep you cool all day. Throw on a simple black pair of cycling shorts, add a black bralet and throw on an oversized blazer over the top - you’re good to go! This look will take you from pub, to park to party in an instant and to make it work for your 9-5 then just grab a baggy, white, vintage shirt to go underneath. Our reworked vintage cycling shorts work best with a pair of trainers or open-toed mules; the chunkier the better.

2. Head To Toe Pastels

Head-to-toe dressing was one of our biggest trends for 2019 so far and it’s getting a fruity refresh for summer. Pastel colour-blocking walks the line perfectly between OTT, eye-catching and office-appropriate, so will definitely become a summer go-to. Whether you go all out in matching hues or mix ‘n’ match soft, powdery tones there’s a version of this look for everyone. Take a coloured blazer and pair with your fave vintage skirt or loose-fitting trousers and you’re good to go. Whether you favour a long, flowing number or prefer structured, cropped trousers this look only takes seconds to put together.

3. Over A Summer Dress

There’s nothing like the simplicity vintage summer dress and heading straight out of the door. You might not think of this combo, but by adding a blazer over the top you can transform your favourite beachy dress into a chic daytime look. The best thing about this look is you can finish it off with loafers, trainers, sandals, a wicker bag, a structured handbag - whatever you fancy. That’s versatility my friends

4. Cool Camel

Cool muted tones, earthy hues and soft beiges all scream summer and will instantly transport you to an island getaway. Take your camel blazer and add trousers, a vintage t-shirt and accessories in the same palette. Crisp, linen trousers, tan loafers and brown, wicker basket-bags will create a laid-back look that works for all manner of ocaissions. If this soft, summery palette takes your fancy then don’t forget to shop our Sunset Safari edit.

5. With Jeans & A Tee

For those cooler summer days and breezy evenings, you can’t go wrong with a classic jeans and tee combo. No matter how many times you wear it, a fitted white t-shirt paired with vintage, light-wash, blue jeans never loses it’s effortlessly chic feel. Add a patterned blazer over the top and you have the perfect summer work outfit.  Bonus points if you choose a brightly-patterned blazer.

6. Paired With Denim Shorts

A good pair of vintage denim shorts are a fail-safe summer staple, ready to be paired with a loose band tee, a silk blouse or a sporty crop top. Whichever top works best for your style, just pop on your best blazer, for a classic look. If you are feeling crafty you can swap out the vintage buttons and get some more exciting, statement buttons to add an extra finishing touch.

 7. With A Casual Skirt

The perfect look to dress up or down, grab your favourite blazer, add your favourite shirt and mini-skirt and finish with your most comfortable vintage Converse. Drinks with friends? Check. Picnic in the park? Check. Hot date? Check! There’s nothing this look can’t do.

8. With A Statement Animal Print

Another of our biggest trends this year, we go absolutely wild for animal print. It’s a timeless look that never goes out of style and we love finding crazy, printed, vintage gems. Whether you pair your blazer with a leopard-print shirt, satin cheetah-print skirt or zebra-striped trousers it’ll be a chic combo perfect for every occasion.
