Hallowe'en Dress-Up Guide: The Queen

Posted on October 21 2011

There’s no denying that the Royal Wedding way back in April made even the most cynical of us go gooey.  The long awaited marriage of Wills and Kate was watched over the world by millions, all gasping at the beauty of Kate’s McQueen frock.  But it wasn’t just Kate or P-Middy that raised the style stakes, oh no.  There was another Royal that gained a regal round of applause at Beyond Retro HQ (no, not Beatrice in her lobster hat).  We just loved The Queen.  Taking the floral trend quite literally in her daffodil ensemble, she looked positively glorious and even quite adorable, though we wouldn’t want ma’am to hear us say that.  So this Hallowe'en, go against the tide of popular topical costumes (Kate and Michael Jackson are predicted favourites for 2011) and opt for her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Choose from Balmoral Queenie with quilted jackets, pleated skirts and the obligatory silk head scarf or opt for her more formal attire in sharp dress suits (pastels are the shade of choice), handbag on forearm and one heck of a hat. Fellas, we’re looking at you in this get up.  Practicality is an art mastered by this lady, so we guarantee you’ll find it oh so comfortable!  Better than a pirate any day...

Plaid Jacket £25 | Sun Hat £18 | 1970s Tan Bag £15 | 1960s Black Bag £15 | 1960s Dress Suit £48 | 1970s Mid-Length Skirt £12
