Fleeces: Not Just For Your Dad
In the best revival since Disco, fleeces are back in a big way. Gone are the days when your parents would throw them on for the school run, fleeces are having their moment and vintage is the way to go with this trend.
A brief history
We can thank Patagonia for the modern fleece we know and love today, beloved by the outdoorsy types, fleece evolved as wool was too heavy and absorbent for mountaineering escapades.
The 90s saw a fleece revival for busy middle aged people to throw on and jump in their Volvo. The materials got a little thinner as the purpose became more pedestrian than Polar Expedition and brands like Tommy Hilfiger got in on the action.
Fast forward to present day and fleece is having yet another revival with the Hadid’s, Dua Lipa, Shia LeBouef and Donald Glover all sporting the look in recent years.
How to wear Your Fleece
There really aren’t any rules with this versatile little beauty, in the age-old cliche this really can take you from day to night, or a chilly morning on the train to the smoking area in the pub.
For a cosy functional piece, stick with brands like Patagonia, Columbia and The North Face.
If you’re after more of a quick fashion fix, have a look at Disney or Champion.
How to style your Fleece
The fleece was a staple of the 90s and works so well as part of the normcore trend. Throw on your Chucks, with a vintage tee and some Levi's and you're good to go.
Alternatively layer your fleece with a shirt and cute crop top with a trusty pair of 505's
If you fancy an Autumn night out and CBA with a Winter coat (we sell some great ones though take a look) throw a fleece over a pinafore or denim dress.
A smart shirt and chinos work well with this look and a pair of vintage loafers are a winner with everything!
