East End Lights

Posted on July 22 2009

Channel your inner feminist for the sixth installment of the exciting ‘EAST END LIGHTS’ street art event, hosted by ‘Beyond Retro.’ From 6pm on Thursday July 30th, our Cheshire Street store will unveil a supercharged showcase of work produced by some of East London’s brightest young female talents. DJ duo, ‘The Broken Hearts’ head up a rock chick list of statement art subversives, including leftfield burlesque performer ‘Fancy Chance’ and thrift store clothing imagineer Mae Finlayson. A showstopping sprinkle of screen idol style and charm underlines the work of hat and accessories vixen Kelly-Marie Burdekin. Entitled ‘Women in the Arts’, this latest project is an idyllic adrenaline shock, that avoids classic gender clichés. Instead, it provides a platform to explore inventive art spectacle and bold ideas. The familiar A0 sized lightbox fixtures, attached to Cheshire Street’s external walls, will be filled with an eclectic mix of media, employing widely experimental techniques, from each individual artist. Expect mashed up elegance, kickass grace and a fierce adoration from all. Especially the boys.East End Lights at Beyond Retro, July 30th EAST END LIGHTS INSTALLATION: 30th JULY 2009, 6pm - 9pm BEYOND RETRO, 110-112 Cheshire Street, E2 6EJ R.S.V.P. to press@beyondretro.com / 020 7613 3636
