Autumn Shirt Essentials

Posted on August 19 2011

Sometimes there’s a feeling of dread with up-coming seasons, especially when they're so heavily focused on a particular shape.  Autumn Winter 2011 gave us a plethora of nipped in waists and sharp yet womanly looks, making us tomboys cower in fear.  But the best thing about the up-coming looks is that this winter showcases a celebration of all shapes and sizes harking back to the numerous shapes of by-gone eras.  In normal speak, everyone’s doing vintage.  Of course. Let’s look at Dolce & Gabbana.  For what is usually the crème de la crème of sexy, tight dresses we see model of the moment Arizona Muse done up like a young Ska kid.  Amazing!  Huzzah for the tomboys!  And the “boys” look even sexier than their dressed up counterparts (the catwalk is split into two trends) with their androgynous swagger.  And the masculine look doesn’t stop with this Italian duo.  Everyone is doing it.  And the piece that pulls the look together?  The trusty shirt.  So at Beyond Retro, we’ve selected our favourite autumnal essentials.  Whether you’re going girly with a Peter Pan collar or channelling the huge '70s trend with a Barrymore point, this season is just perfect.  Indecisiveness is the new black.
