Meet Our Vintage Fox…She’s Eclectic

Friday, August 6th, 2010

On a cloudy day in London (come back summer!) we found our Vintage Fox rummaging around our Cheshire Street store sparkling like a golden ray of sunshine. Check out the fabulous yellow gold jewelery! I am in love with her battered converse and hoody matched with a long Tulle skirt; not to mention the divine headdress. Leeann Soki is a stylist by day, so I’m hoping that she can style me over in her wonderfully eclectic ballerina-meets-rock’n'roll-meets-Thai lovely way!

Loose Your Heart Above The Clouds With Beyond Retro

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

While your flight may not be so glamorous these days, your luggage still can be! Whilst the press team spent their lunch hour cursing the budget airlines for the last of the summer deals, our intern decided to play at being a fabulous trolley dolly. Gone are those miniature suitcases on wheels, only the best vintage Samsonite luggage will do (and it’s still small enough to fit in the overhead locker). Check out the wonderful selection of travel bags, vanity cases and even suitcases at Beyond Retro, so you can bring a little glamour to your summer holidays.

Who want's to fly with our intern, Kerry?

Never Seen a Vintage Fox Like You Before!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Of course, it’s the jeans you notice first! Super skinny and creased up, it’s as though Barrie Cadogan fell from planet rockstar! On closer inspection, it appears he has done just that! Check the pristine pointy soles and stripy tee! Soho found the dreamy muso sniffing around the crammed aisles of style at the weekend. And what a find! Turns out he might have been scouting for stage wear, as he plays with (my own personal favourite rock God!), Bobby Gillespie and the boys of Primal Scream. You may also catch him on stage with ex Orange Juice-r, Edwyn Collins. And then there’s the ‘Little Barrie’ trio itself, the London-based hard rock, blues and funk outfit he fronts! No wonder he was out shopping! I bet he gets through a lot of shirts on stage! There you go, proof that Beyond Retro clothes really know how to rock a room!

Little Barrie play Merc Clothing, Carnaby Street on 13 August at 6pm and The Blues Kitchen, London on 29 August at 7pm. For more details on their sound and maybe their style too, check them out here!

Festival Frock Night – June 17th

Friday, June 11th, 2010
Seasoned festival goers rejoice, we no longer have to pretend it’s all about the music! Your summer of love should start with the style! Post GaGa, our festival wardrobe demands to be as big as those electro beats!
Cue a dress up plan for every day! Pitching a tent under the evening sky? Our cut-off denim shorts teamed with a nautical striped tee and summer wedges will set the tone for laid back times! If the sun shines in the daytime, you’ll want to attract a loved-up audience of your own! It will happen in our custom made fifties          two-piece! Complete with showstopping bloomers everyone!  But get ready with our fabulous glitter frocks for that Saturday night cider picnic under the setting sun! Wear with our astonishingly cool and colourful wellies for an individual glamour hit! And Sunday, should forever be about the comfort-zone playsuit! Of course there’s fun ponchos, dotty rain macs and kookie sunglasses too!
We want your festival weekend to go off like a dream, so we’ve worked out your wardrobe needs in advance, and we’re hosting a late night shopping event so you can pull together those last minute looks!
Come to any one of our Beyond Retro stores (across London and Brighton) on Thursday 17th June between 6pm and 9pm and we’ll show you how to rock that festival fever!
Free cider inside! Live DJs in Brighton and Soho, while the Cheshire Street gang get ready with the live music action! Indeed, the lovely, rootsy ‘Holden’ are playing a set in-store! I hear they hail from my homeland (Edinburgh, in case I never said!), so I expect great things! In the meantime, I’m going to let you loose on the clothes! Come on, it is all that really matters!
