Press Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Press Department of a brand leader within the vintage landscape and retail fashion sector. Beyond Retro is regularly featured across leading global print, digital and broadcasting channels and has a close working relationship with high profile clients, press and influencers. The Press Assistant will be responsible for managing and building on these relationships, strengthening and forging new ones whilst working to raise brand awareness and will be the first point of contact for fashion editors, stylists and bloggers looking to collaborate with and feature us.

Reporting into the Head of Press & Marketing, duties include;

  • Management of all press loans and press appointments diary, liaising directly with press on a daily basis for call-ins, product requests and sourcing whilst proactively pitching in new products and Beyond Retro Label; you are responsible for coordinating all press loans, sample send-outs and returns
  • Monitor and collate weekly and monthly press coverage reports and and analysis, keeping an accurate up-to-date record of coverage received
  • Working on in-store events and marketing activity in accordance with internal calendars
  • Writing press releases and newsflashes, sourcing/researching relevant trends that marry with the Beyond Retro offering and crafting stories to pitch to press
  • Curating and creating weekly content for the Beyond Retro blog and overseeing the editorial calendar. Recruiting key local businesses and industry professionals to feature and interview.
  • Blogger outreach - working with and fostering excellent relationships with our existing network whilst identifying potential new relationships and relevant on-brand opportunities
  • Creation of written copy for communication and marketing materials
  • Ad hoc support to Head of Press & Marketing

You must have/be:

  • Educated to degree level in a fashion related degree
  • Relevant industry experience for a fashion or retail brand for a minimum of 1 year
  • Great media knowledge
  • Outstanding creative writing skills are essential and proven experience of writing creative copy for press releases, social media platforms, blogposts and newsletters is expected
  • An understanding of the vintage marketplace and possess a voracious appetite for culture - music, fashion, film and art are all your passions
  • An enthusiastic team player with a positive can-do attitude
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic retail environment, you thrive under pressure
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload, a meticulous eye for detail and the ability to self-manage time and work to agreed schedules
  • A natural flair for styling is an advantage
  • Good working knowledge of Google Analytics, Gorkana, Wordpress and Photoshop are desirable
